Engineered to Win

The factory charge piping is the cheapest path between the turbochargers and the throttle body, not the best one. Ford necks the driver side intercooler inlet tube down to a 41mm inside diameter, with clearance cutouts breaking up flow along the way. The SnailWorks Engineering Team modeled the whole system in CAD and rebuilt it around the airflow. Both AMS F150 charge pipe inlet tubes step up to a 65.5mm inside diameter and hold that size through the bends, for up to 155% more flow area than OEM.

The cold side gets the same treatment. Ford routes the intercooler outlet tube through a plastic adapter with a hard molded bend on its way to the throttle body. The AMS outlet tube deletes that bend for a smooth flowing transition and opens up to 22% more flow area than OEM. That matters more the harder you push the truck. Pressure loss through a restriction climbs faster than airflow does: double the airflow and the loss roughly quadruples. Think of it like breathing through a straw, no problem sitting on the couch, a real problem in the middle of a 100-yard dash. A tuned truck with an upgraded intercooler moves far more air than stock, so it loses far more to the factory piping than a stock one ever will. Most companies build a charge pipe that fits. AMS builds one that flows.

The Complete Charge System

Whether you call them charge pipes or intercooler pipes, this kit replaces every piece of factory charge piping. The hot side carries air from both turbochargers into the intercooler, the cold side carries it from the intercooler to the throttle body, and both are engineered together and sold only as a complete set. Every connection uses stepped 5-ply silicone couplers that sit flush with the piping, so the air never trips over a lip at the joints, and a billet adapter handles the factory quick disconnect at the intercooler outlet.

The kit retains the factory fittings and mounting points, installs with no cutting or trimming, and arrives finished in black powder coat with detailed instructions, so the truck can go back to stock whenever you want. The 1/8 in NPT port in the throttle body inlet tube is there when you are ready for a boost gauge, BOV or wastegate signal, meth injection, or an extra IAT sensor.
